Every activity, phase by phase
Cinghio in Comune runs from June 2026 to September 2027, from listening to the neighbourhood to designing and transforming the spaces, through to the activities that will bring them to life.
Here is the whole process, phase by phase, to follow the activities and see what is happening at the Cinghio.
Phase 1 — Getting started and participatory co-design
June 2026 – March 2027
Getting to know the place and how it is used
Site visits, observation and short interviews to understand how the spaces of Cinghio Sud are used, by whom and at different times of day, gathering perceptions, needs and possibilities.
Listening to the neighbourhood
Meetings and conversations with local people to gather experiences, needs and ideas about the spaces, paying particular attention to those who have fewer chances to be heard.
Designing the spaces together
Participatory design workshops where residents and designers will work together on the transformation of the two spaces. With the support of orizzontale, technical advisor to the project, the work will cover the area of via Veterani dello Sport and piazza Caduti di Superga. The proposals developed there will be the basis for what is then built.
“Neighbourhood videomaking” course
A course for 10-15 young people aged 15 to 18 on the basics of filming and editing, and on telling the story of the neighbourhood through images, stories and points of view. Run by Cooperativa Sociale ECOLE with the support of Officina Arti Audiovisive.
Street art and the design of the mural
A street art workshop with Rise the Cat, where young people will design a collective work together, later painted above the portico of the Emporio Solidale, in via Veterani dello Sport.
Phase 2 — Transforming and fitting out the spaces
March – April 2027
Transforming via Veterani dello Sport
Building what was designed collectively: new furniture, planters, shaded seating and a decorated pavement, drawn from the work done during the workshops.
Painting the mural
Painting the mural designed together with young people above the portico of the Emporio Solidale.
Fitting out piazza Caduti di Superga
Fitting out the square to host activities, meetings and events, with a small modular stage and movable furniture such as benches, shade sails and gazebos.
Phase 3 — Activity, care and cultural life
April – September 2027, and beyond
R-estate al Cinghio
A summer season with concerts and music evenings, workshops, theatre, open-air cinema, book launches, dinners, markets, readings and activities for children.
Schools, allotments and exchange between generations
Activities with local schools on growing and beekeeping, alongside occasions for different generations to share experience and knowledge of the land.
Care that carries on
Cinghio in Comune is also an occasion to learn and try out together how to look after shared spaces. A form of care that begins during the project and is meant to outlast it: to carry on over time and become part of daily life here.
